Ideal for students who want to build a flying career within New Zealand. Provides a strong foundation and a pathway to advanced training and employment opportunities in New Zealand.

Pathway: Leads to New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (Level 6) with strands in:

  • Aeroplane Flight Instruction

REQUIREMENTS BEFORE START OF TRAINING

Before beginning training, all students must meet the following prerequisites:

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS (All Students):

Medical Certificate: Class 1. Must be valid and issued under New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) guidelines
Driving Offence Report: A report disclosing any driving offences must be provided
Criminal History Check: A criminal background check is required to verify eligibility for flight training

ENTRY AND SELECTION CRITERIA
4.1 Domestic (New Zealand) Students

To be eligible for our programmes, domestic students must meet the following criteria:

Verified evidence of New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency (such as a copy of a birth certificate, passport, or permanent resident visa)
Minimum age of 17 years (Note: Students must be 18 years of age before the CPL Flight Test or ATPL examinations)
Completion of NCEA Level 2 or equivalent qualifications (e.g., a trade qualification at Level 4 or above)
A valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
A clean driving record from Waka Kotahi (NZ Transport Agency)
A Ministry of Justice report
A personal statement explaining the applicant's interest in a career in aviation
Provision of two written references
Meet the Civil Aviation Authority's Fit and Proper Person requirements
Fulfilment of any specific prerequisites for the chosen programme
4.2 International Students

International students must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

Must be at least 18 years old
Completion of at least four years of secondary schooling in a country where English is the first language, or an IELTS overall score of 5.5 with no sub-part below 5.0
A secondary school pass in Maths and Physics (equivalent to India's 10+2)
Pass in Aviation English
A valid Student Visa
Valid medical and travel insurance
A Class 1 Medical Certificate
A clean driving history report from your home country's transport authority
Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) or equivalent criminal background check from your home country's police authority
A personal statement explaining the applicant's interest in a career in aviation
Provision of two written references
A copy of the student's passport and a passport-sized photograph
Meet the Civil Aviation Authority's Fit and Proper Person requirements
